Netflix’s hit romantic comedy ‘Emily in Paris’ is coming to an end. The streaming giant confirmed this week that Season 6 will be the show’s final chapter, with filming now underway.

In May 2026, Netflix confirmed that the series was ending after six seasons. Lead star Lily Collins announced the news in an Instagram video, saying: “After six unforgettable years as Emily Cooper, I’m here to share that this upcoming sixth season will be our final.”

How it started

The series debuted in October 2020, followed by Season 2 in December 2021 and Season 3 in December 2022. Season 4 premiered in August 2024, and Season 5 was released in December 2025.

The show launched at the height of pandemic lockdowns in 2020 and was watched by 58 million households in its first month, making it the most popular comedy on Netflix that year.

Created by Darren Star, the producer behind ‘Sex and the City’, the show follows Emily Cooper, an American marketing executive who moves to Paris for work.

Where season 6 is heading

Greece is the first stop for Season 6 production. ‘Emily in Paris’ will then move to Monaco before returning to Paris for the conclusion.

Season 5 ended with Emily and Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) breaking up, and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) sending her a note asking to meet him in Greece, leaving the character’s next move unresolved.

The series has previously filmed in Rome, Venice, Saint-Tropez, and Megève.

The cast returns

Fans can expect all their favourite Agence Grateau colleagues and Parisian friends to return. Alongside Collins, the cast includes Ashley Park, Lucien Laviscount, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), and William Abadie (Antoine Lambert).

The numbers

Despite polarising reviews, the show’s audience never wavered. Season 5 came in at No. 2 among English-language series in its opening weekend, drawing 13.5 million views, down from Season 4’s debut of 19.9 million views, but still a strong performance for a returning series.

According to FlixPatrol data, Season 5 secured the No. 1 position across major markets including the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Canada, and the UK within days of its release.

The show has maintained a complicated relationship with critics. Season 5 held a 71% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics but drew a series-low 41% from audiences.

According to Variety, filming began in May 2026, with plans to shoot in Monaco and Greece. If filming runs through spring and into summer, new episodes could arrive before the end of the year or in early 2027. Netflix has not announced an official premiere date.

Emily in Paris joins other high-profile Netflix shows confirmed to be concluding, including ‘The Night Agent’ and ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’.
